Tiny Bathroom Transformation: From Outdated to Smart & Stylish

Sometimes, even the smallest spaces can undergo the biggest transformations. This 3.1 m² bathroom was once outdated, impractical, and lacking storage. A large bathtub took up most of the room, leaving very little functional space for everyday use. The boiler, once installed in an inconvenient and visually intrusive spot, is now cleverly concealed within a custom-built closet above the washing machine, creating a cleaner and more organized space.

The Challenge

The bathroom felt cramped and inefficient. There was no proper storage for cleaning supplies, and the old wall tiles made the space look even smaller and darker. The bulky bathtub dominated the room, limiting movement and usability.

The Solution

The goal was simple: maximize space, improve functionality, and create a modern, cozy atmosphere.

  • The oversized bathtub was removed and replaced with a stylish, space-saving shower cabin, instantly opening up the room.
  • A built-in closet was installed, providing much-needed storage without sacrificing space.
  • The new design cleverly hides a washing machine inside the closet, keeping the bathroom clean and uncluttered.
  • A modern sink with an integrated mirror and lighting was added, enhancing both functionality and ambiance.
  • All old tiles were replaced with fresh, contemporary finishes, bringing warmth and a clean aesthetic to the space.

The Result

From 1962 to Today: A Complete Transformation of a Spanish Home

This house was purchased as an investment project with great potential—but it needed a complete transformation to become livable by modern standards.

Built in 1962, the property reflects a type of traditional Spanish construction that was common at the time. When we first entered the house, it was in very poor condition. The space was cluttered, outdated, and lacked basic infrastructure. There was no electrical kitchen, and cooking was done using an open fire—something that was once normal decades ago, but no longer suitable for comfortable or safe living.

The house consists of two floors and a garage, with a total built area of 120 m². Our goal was to convert this neglected structure into a fully functioning family home, designed for two adults and three children, while also ensuring long-term value as an investment. There was no third floor, but we added on extra room and stairs.

Smart Planning for Modern Living

One of the main challenges was space optimization. Although the ceilings were unusually high, the number of bedrooms was limited. Instead of wasting vertical space, we designed and built an additional room under the ceiling, creating extra sleeping space without expanding the building footprint. This solution allowed us to add another bedroom while maintaining an open and comfortable feel.

The house was fully redesigned to include:

  • A modern, fully equipped kitchen
  • A functional and comfortable bathroom
  • Well-distributed living spaces suitable for a family of five

Every area was carefully planned to balance practicality, comfort, and durability.

Creating Space Where There Was None

Another key feature of this renovation is the patio. Originally, this area was simply an empty void—something quite typical in older Spanish layouts. We designed and built a charming patio “on air,” transforming unused space into a bright and inviting outdoor area that adds both character and value to the home.

A New Life for an Old House

What was once a messy, outdated property has been completely reborn. Today, the house is a modern, comfortable, and fully functional home, ready for family life and long-term use. This project shows how thoughtful design, structural creativity, and respect for the original building can bring new life to historic Spanish homes.

Not only did we improve the ceiling aesthetics, but we also focused on enhancing the noise isolation inside the walls. Brand-New Kitchen

The kitchen was completely reimagined and transformed into a modern culinary space. We installed new countertops, sleek cabinetry, and state-of-the-art appliances, creating a stylish yet highly functional cooking area. The open plan allows for effortless entertaining and family gatherings, with plenty of room for both prep and relaxation.

Tiling of Floors and Bathroom

Every floor in the flat, including the bathroom, was beautifully tiled, providing durability and an elegant finish. The new tiles not only improve the flat’s functionality but also add a clean, polished look throughout the entire space. From the living areas to the bathroom, the fresh tiles create a cohesive design that ties the entire home together.

A Tiny Entrance’s Transformation into a Functional Space

This apartment is located in a building that has two entrances to the porch. The previous owner rebuilt a part of it for individual use and obtained an individual entrance from the street, which is really comfortable.

Renovating a small room like this presents a unique opportunity to maximize every inch of space, turning limitations into possibilities. Through thoughtful design and strategic upgrades, this tiny room underwent a remarkable transformation, ensuring functionality without compromising on style or comfort.

However it was so old, worn out and with really weird color selection.

What was done in this project:

  • Floor tiling- removal of the old tiles, replacing them with bigger ones and more stylish. It’s a lot easier to clean them now.
  • Enlarging sealing corner- there was a really dangerous corner on the ceiling, which may hurt people who are tall. This corner has been cut, making the door entrance a bit larger.
  • Holder installation for more comfortable use of stairs- when elder people very visiting, they needed to hold themselves while taking the stairs.
  • Built-in shoe shelves to optimize storage- previously there was a mess, a lot of shoes on the floor. But now everything is more organized
  • Coloring all walls- from lilac to 2 shades of gray.
  • Coloring the stairs and other wood surfaces- from wood color to black
  • Coloring of metal surfaces- from white color to black.
  • Light installation- the room is pretty small and the light is not coming through, so additional bulb really makes a huge difference during darker times.
  • Additional storage shelf installation- why to waste the space which can storage some seasonal items?
  • Mirror installation- so very comfy to check yourself before you go!
  • Wallpaper – just a little design detail upstairs near the window.
  • Additional socket installation for more comfortable cleaning with the vacuum.

The room’s functionality received a significant boost with the installation of additional sockets. Strategically positioned outlets near workstations or seating areas facilitated convenience, allowing for seamless connectivity of electronic devices without the hassle of tangled cords or limited access to power sources.

Color played a crucial role in transforming the room’s aesthetic. The choice of wall color or wallpaper, carefully curated to complement the room’s size, added depth and character.

Through a meticulous renovation process, this tiny room underwent a transformative journey. What once felt cramped and limiting now exudes functionality and charm. Reviving a Girl’s Room from Dull to Delightful

The family moved in into an old fashion post Soviet union building, which has a separate room for their daughter, but it was really old fashioned.

There were too many colors on the walls, plus the old wood color built in wardrobe. For the young girl it was not very inspiring room. From an uninspiring mishmash of colors and outdated furniture, this once lackluster room underwent a whimsical transformation, transcending from drab darkness to a bright, girly sanctuary.

The initial challenge lay in remedying the room’s chaotic color palette. An abundance of hues clashed against each other, overwhelming the space and suffocating any sense of tranquility. The decision to bid adieu to the cacophony of colors paved the way for a fresh canvas.

Another project in Stalin style house, where the owner decided to merge two flats and make a total renovation. The flat was in a pretty bad condition, it was needed to remove some walls, change entire water supply and connection, floorings, tiling, doors.
