From 1962 to Today: A Complete Transformation of a Spanish Home

This house was purchased as an investment project with great potential—but it needed a complete transformation to become livable by modern standards.

Built in 1962, the property reflects a type of traditional Spanish construction that was common at the time. When we first entered the house, it was in very poor condition. The space was cluttered, outdated, and lacked basic infrastructure. There was no electrical kitchen, and cooking was done using an open fire—something that was once normal decades ago, but no longer suitable for comfortable or safe living.

The house consists of two floors and a garage, with a total built area of 120 m². Our goal was to convert this neglected structure into a fully functioning family home, designed for two adults and three children, while also ensuring long-term value as an investment. There was no third floor, but we added on extra room and stairs.

Smart Planning for Modern Living

One of the main challenges was space optimization. Although the ceilings were unusually high, the number of bedrooms was limited. Instead of wasting vertical space, we designed and built an additional room under the ceiling, creating extra sleeping space without expanding the building footprint. This solution allowed us to add another bedroom while maintaining an open and comfortable feel.

The house was fully redesigned to include:

  • modern, fully equipped kitchen
  • functional and comfortable bathroom
  • Well-distributed living spaces suitable for a family of five

Every area was carefully planned to balance practicality, comfort, and durability.

Creating Space Where There Was None

Another key feature of this renovation is the patio. Originally, this area was simply an empty void—something quite typical in older Spanish layouts. We designed and built a charming patio “on air,” transforming unused space into a bright and inviting outdoor area that adds both character and value to the home.

A New Life for an Old House

What was once a messy, outdated property has been completely reborn. Today, the house is a modern, comfortable, and fully functional home, ready for family life and long-term use. This project shows how thoughtful design, structural creativity, and respect for the original building can bring new life to historic Spanish homes.

The before and after photos clearly show the scale of the transformation—from a forgotten house from 1962 to a home designed for today’s lifestyle.

Rebirth of a home: the entire house renovation of a private house in Estonia.

Work done:

changed walls, floors, sealing, new stairs installed, tiling and wall colouring

The endeavor of an entire house renovation transcends a mere facelift—it’s a narrative of reinvention, where every wall, floor, staircase, and surface holds the promise of a transformed living experience. From the structural changes to the intricate details of tiling and wall coloring, the process shapes not just spaces but the very essence of the home.

The addition of new stairs marks both a functional and aesthetic evolution in the home. Beyond mere functionality, staircases become architectural statements. The design, material, and structure of these new steps harmonize with the overall style of the house, whether it’s a classic wooden staircase, a modern steel and glass masterpiece, or a sleek floating design that exudes minimalism.

Wall coloring isn’t merely a coat of paint—it’s a transformative tool that shapes the mood and character of a room. Each hue narrates a story, be it the tranquility of blues, the warmth of earth tones, or the vivacity of bold accents. The strategic application of colors amplifies the spatial dynamics, creating depth and visual interest throughout the house.

An entire house renovation is more than just a series of modifications; it’s a testament to the power of transformation. Through meticulous planning and skilled craftsmanship, a space once ordinary now stands reborn—a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetics, where every detail speaks volumes about the homeowners’ aspirations and style.

This rejuvenation isn’t merely a physical change but an emotional journey—a realization of dreams and a canvas for new memories. The home, now revitalized, resonates with a renewed energy, inviting inhabitants to embrace a fresh chapter in their lives within its transformed walls.
